Connecting India, Uniting India!

The undertaking and launch of new trains to Kevadia has gained a lot of traction amongst tourists recently. On 17th January 2021, when PM Modi flagged off 8 trains from different parts of the country to Kevadia, where Sardar Patel’s Statue of Unity is located, people flocked to travel, among them actor Mayur Vakani from the popular television serial “Tarak Mehta Ka Ulta Chashma.”

The special thing about the launch of these trains is that out of the 8 trains, the Janshatabdi Express from Ahmedabad has a state-of-the-art Vistadome coach which is not just at par with the trains of Europe but seemingly surpasses them in facilities. According to Mayur Vakani, it’s like travelling in an aeroplane on railways tracks.

A Vistadome coach is designed to provide comfort and enhanced viewing experience. It has an observation lounge with large windows for passengers to experience the scenic route to Kevadia. The coach has 44 recliners and rotatable seats.

It also has foldable snack tables and an in-built entertainment system among its wide variety of facilities added to keep the passengers as relaxed, happy and entertained as possible.

An official of Western Railways said, “The salient feature of Vistadome is that it has air suspension spring riding comfort technology, which ensures passengers feel no tiredness at all during the journey. We encourage travellers to keep a glass full of water on the snacks table when the train is at full speed, and notice that the glass will be completely still.”

We are slowly making such big advances in technology, it’s difficult to imagine going back to a time when none of this was available to us. Let’s hope the launch of this new railway transport to Kevadia boosts tourism to this tribal belt and more people are able to witness the masterpiece that is the Statue of Unity in all its glory.

The eight newly inaugurated trains are:

Mahamana Weekly Express (Kevadia-Varanasi) from Uttar Pradesh
